'Twas the Night Before Games
Here are some FAQ's for the first round of games tomorrow:

1) WEBSITE/APP: Pleas be sure to check the WEBSITE tonight and in the morning for exact team assignments and game schedules. Apps associated with our site are third party. We do not control the integration of that information. Times and info on the app has not synced properly at times in the past. Please use the website.

2) TEAMS/GAMES: We've had to shift some players around onto different teams as late as this afternoon. Please check the website to confirm your roster spot.

3) WEATHER: We make a call on inclement weather at 7am on Saturdays. The call is made by the CYL Board, not Chesterfield County. Please check the Chesterfield Hammers Facebook page for the most up to date weather alerts. No news means games are ON.

4) UNIFORMS: If you have not received your uniform yet, please bring a white and blue shirt to the game. We are playing entirely internal for the first two weeks and white/blue t-shirts will work fine.

5) REFEREES: 1/2 and 3/4 divisions are refereed by high school students. Please be patient as they are learning their role just as players are learning theirs. 5/6 and above are assigned refs through a Central VA lacrosse association. However, there is a referee shortage in the state, so please do not take them, their time, and their expertise for granted.

6) PARKING: Parking at Mary Stratton can be difficult due to competing with soccer on other fields, so please consider arriving early. Parking at Horner is usually not a problem.

7) ARRIVAL: Coaches determine their own arrival times. If you have not been given an arrival time by your coach, 30-mins before the game is a good rule of thumb.

8) COMMUNICATION: Facebook is the most immediate way to communicate with us on gameday. Coaches are out on-site coaching and not on email. Therefore, we are not always immediately attentive to email. I monitor the FB page though and can usually answer in a timely fashion.

9) MOUTHGUARDS: Bring them.

10) EQUIPMENT: Check your car THREE times for all your equipment before leaving the house. Pro tip.

See you all out on the fields!

Fall '22 Preseason FAQ's
Welcome to the Fall, 2022 Season of CYL!
Next week (8/29) will be our first week of practice. Here's everything you need to know:
River City Sportsplex (13030 Genito Rd, Midlothian, VA 23112)
10 (girls), 11 + 12 (boys) - These fields are in the way back past the large parking lot on the left. Keep going ... until you can't go anymore!
K/1/2: Monday, August 29th, 6-7:30p
3/4: Tuesday, August 30th, 6-7:30p
5/6: Wednesday, August 31st, 6-7:30p
7/8: Thursday, September 1st, 6-7:30p
HS Girls: Thursday, September 1st, 7:30-9p
If you are a new player, please arrive 30-mins in advance (particularly boys) so that we can be sure your equipment is fitted properly.
I will be located at the front intersection between fields 10 & 11. Please check-in with me before heading to the fields. If you have not yet paid, you will need to bring a check and pay on-site.
We make the call for weekday practices @ 4pm regarding weather. We make the call @ 7am regarding Saturday games. We typically play in all weather except lightning/thunder. Facebook is our primary notification system, email is second.
Players will not be assigned a team or coach until after the first week of practices in which evaluations occur. We attempt to create parity among our teams and divide up as evenly as possible by skillset.
Uniforms will not arrive until a few days prior to the first games on 9/10. However, all players must have (and use) all equipment starting from day one - don't forget your mouthguards! All players will also receive a free shooter shirt early in the season.
Boys may want to consider finding a water bottle with a long straw that they can utilize while still wearing their helmets. Taking helmets off and on can take up valuable practice time, especially for the younger guys.
Game schedules will be posted before the end of the first week of practice.
-Girls practice on turf and (mostly) play on grass
-Boys practice on turn and (mostly) play on turf
-Crosse (girls) stick
-Gloves (optional)
-Turf shoes or cleats (by preference)
-Crosse (boys) stick
-Chest protector/shoulder pads (NOCSAE)
-Elbow pads
-Protective cup
-Turf shoes or cleats (by preference)
See you out there!
